A security personnel was injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast triggered by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district on Friday. The injured jawan was immediately hospitalized, and security forces have launched an extensive search operation in the affected area.

Providing details, Bastar Inspector General (IG) Sundarraj P said, “One jawan was injured in an IED blast planted by Maoists near Bedmakoti. He is currently receiving first aid at the district hospital in Narayanpur.” He further added that the injured soldier’s condition is stable after initial medical treatment.

Security forces have intensified search operations in the region to trace the insurgents responsible for the attack.

This incident comes just a week after another IED blast in Narayanpur’s Abujhmad area, where two security personnel were injured when dust and debris from the explosion entered their eyes. They were swiftly evacuated for medical treatment.

According to Narayanpur Police, no serious injuries were reported in that attack, but forces remain on high alert as Naxal activities persist in the region.

On March 21, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the BJP government’s zero-tolerance policy towards Naxalism, stating that 2,619 Naxalites had either been arrested, surrendered, or killed over the past year.

“By March 21, 2026, Naxalism will be completely eradicated from our country. This is the result of the hard work of the Modi government over the past 10 years,” Shah declared in Rajya Sabha, emphasizing a new approach to tackling insurgency in Chhattisgarh under the BJP government, which took power in December 2023.

With intensified counter-insurgency efforts and frequent clashes between security forces and Maoists, Chhattisgarh remains a critical battleground in India’s ongoing fight against left-wing extremism.
